Kyle Hamilton talks supporting military families through football

Week 13 is here, which means the NFL's “My Cause My Cleats” initiative will be in full swing and Kyle Hamilton is taking the lead.

The “My Cause My Cleats” campaign will raise awareness for hundreds of teams that players across the league want to help with custom cleats on game day.

Players will be allowed to do so over the next two weeks wear shoes in colors other than the traditional team colors on game day and Hamilton unveiled his football boots before Sunday's game with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hamilton, in collaboration with USAA, the NFL's official Salute to Service partner, has chosen to support Our Military Kids, a nonprofit organization for children with military parents who are either deployed or recovering from combat injuries.

Hamilton spoke to The Ravens Wire about why this was the right occasion for his platform while discussing his time with several of those kids on the program, whom he surprised at the Ravens' Under Armor Performance Center a few weeks ago.

“We had them at the facility a few weeks ago and about six or seven of them, aged 7 to about 13, had a great time. I was able to talk to them and play some soccer and basketball. We probably played for an hour. It was great.”

In the video below, Hamilton discusses his Salute to Service, provides an injury update and provides insight into his evolving role as the Ravens' leader.

Hamilton talked about Baltimore's matchup against Philadelphia and Notre Dame's battle against the USC Trojans.
