The Bears used more pre-snap motions last Sunday against the Packers than in previous games.
“Exercise can be used for a variety of reasons, and the most obvious is to create a running advantage,” said coach Matt Eberflus. “This is what you want to do. They create numbers and create advantages in the running game. And I think we did that really well last week…
“And then there are advantages in the passing game. Throwing boundary screens gives you an extra blocker out there, wherever he may be. Or you create the mismatch or matchup you want, and that's why you do it.”
“We did it last weekend and you could see the mismatches we had and getting people in space to make plays,” Receiver added DJ Moore. “We want more of it. Does it make you more tired? Yes, but well, it helps the team.”
Run back D'Andre Swift (groin), guard Ryan Bates (Concussion), offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie (calf) and safety Elijah Hicks (Ankle) didn't practice on Wednesday. Guard Teven Jenkins (Ankle) was limited.
Eberflus described Swift's injury as “a mild groin strain” and said he was confident the running back could play against Minnesota.
“We have to give him some rest,” said Eberflus. “These guys are tightening their legs and doing a really good job, and he’s a high-twitch guy, so we need to give him a really good rest over the next day or two to make sure he’s ready to go.”
The Bears promoted the receiver on Wednesday Collin Johnson from the practice team to the active squad and the newly signed security service Adrian Colbert to the practice team.
Johnson appeared in two games this season, playing three snaps on offense and 19 on special teams in Weeks 2-3 against the Texans and Colts.
Colbert has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Bears and appeared in two games in 2022. He was released on August 27th.
