Moore added that Brown excels as a public speaker and motivator, saying, “When he's at the helm of the offense, we want to go out there and play our best football for him. He’s going to dictate the game and we just have to do it. “Go out there and execute.
Brown was in his first season as the Bears' passing game coordinator when he was named caller.
“He has a great presence with the guys,” coach Matt Eberflus said. “He is clear in his communication and works really well with the rest of the offensive team.”
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams excelled at brown-calling plays. Against the Vikings, the No. 1 overall pick completed 32 of 47 passes for 340 yards with two touchdowns, no turnovers and a passer rating of 103.1.
When asked what impressed him most about Williams' performance, Eberflus said: “[It] was a major challenge in terms of front variation, cover variation, print pattern and subsequent failure. Pressure looks and then pressure. Being able to deal with that, get the ball out in a timely manner and then be able to control the defense when necessary, which is really good.
“And then being able to hit the ball down the field was possible because that’s where the open spaces were based on what they presented to us during the season and after.” [Sunday] to. Really good job with the throws from tight windows and placing the ball. The decision making was really good.”
One of Williams' best throws on Sunday was a 27-yard dart to Moore in the final seconds of regulation, which extended to the Vikings' 30-yard dart. The play is prepared Cairo Santos' 48-yard field goal as time expired, tying the score at 27-27 and forcing overtime.
“We practiced it a few times,” Moore said. “I never saw the ball go my way during that play in practice, but when it happened in the game I just thought, 'I just have to pass it.' There was no one in the middle of the field who did a good job of getting past two defenders who were just in time to jump so we could score the field goal.
