After being named interim head coach last Friday, Brown contacted players over the weekend before the team reconvened at Halas Hall on Monday.

“I had the chance to set the tone in the first team meeting on Monday and that was well received,” Brown said. “We usually have a little music playing before the meeting starts, and when it ended everyone was looking at me. I really appreciate that because I want to maximize their time and be efficient with them.”

“I try to bring energy every day. I am a very direct person. I try to engage in front of the group and not entertain. My aim is not to entertain them, but to convey the message, to be clear and concise, [and] I also work with the entire team and our players.”

As Brown helps the Bears prepare for Sunday's game in San Francisco, players have noticed a different vibe at Halas Hall.

“One of the most important things is responsibility,” quarterback said Caleb Williams. “He’s done a good job so far holding me and all the guys accountable. That's just how he is. He leads by example and that’s been great.”

Defensive end DeMarcus Walker appreciates Brown's approach.

“We love his energy and demeanor and attitude that he brings to us as a team,” Walker said. “He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He's definitely able to bring some things up and be honest. These are grown men in this profession. That's what you need. There's no need to beat around the bush. You have to be very transparent.”
