Lions kicker Jake Bates honored for his heroic 4th quarter vs Texans

Jake Bates made history for the Detroit Lions with the team's comeback win in Week 10 at Houston. Bates became the first kicker – in a franchise with a rich history of great kickers – to make two field goals of at least 50 yards in the fourth quarter of the same game. The second shot came from 52 yards after time had expired and provided the decisive lead.

Be Late game heroics in 26-23 win Against the Texans, Bates earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. It is the first of his career.

Bates joins return specialist Kalif Raymond in winning NFC special teams honors last month. Raymond accepted the award in Detroit's victory over Tennessee.
