The Detroit Lions made some injury-related changes to the roster on Monday. Most notable is the addition of linebacker Alex Anzalone to the injured reserve list, a day after the defensive captain broke his forearm in the team's blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Anzalone will be replaced on the active roster by safety Ifeatu Melifonwu, who came off injured reserve. This activation probably deserves an asterisk as Melifonwu is expected to be sidelined again due to a new finger injury he sustained in training last week.
“Well, look, because that's going to happen anyway, something came up with him and he's not going to be – he's not going to be ready for a while,” Campbell said of Melifonwu. “He won’t be ready for a while.”
The Lions also added senior linebacker David Long to the practice squad. Long was recently released by the Miami Dolphins after losing his role in their defense.
