Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jordan Morgan has a pre-existing shoulder injury and will miss at least Sunday's showdown against the Chicago Bears.
coach Matt LaFleur said Morgan — the team's first-round pick — reinjured his shoulder during practice this week. The Packers have ruled him out for Sunday .
“He aggravated his shoulder at practice yesterday,” LaFleur said Friday. “Unfortunate again. We’re going through the process of what’s next, so we’re working on that right now.”
It's possible Morgan ends up on injured reserve. The rookie originally injured his shoulder during training camp, which prevented him from winning the starting right guard job. After returning, Morgan reinjured his shoulder in Week 2 and missed three games.
When he was healthy, Morgan moved in and out of the lineup with Sean Rhyan taking over at right defense.
According to Pro Football Focus, Morgan has allowed seven pressures, including three quarterback hits, and committed one penalty in 186 snaps in six games this season.
If Morgan is out for an extended period of time, Rhyan would become a full-time player on the right side and newcomer Jacob Monk would likely become the top center back.
The Packers made Morgan the 25th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
