Romeo Doubs still in concussion protocol Jaire Alexanders status vs Lions TBD

Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs remains under the concussion protocol as of Tuesday afternoon, and cornerback Jaire Alexander still has uncertain status ahead of Thursday night's showdown with the Detroit Lions.

Doubs, who suffered a concussion on Nov. 24, and Alexander, who is recovering from a serious knee ligament injury, have each practiced on a limited basis over the past three days, but the Packers don't know whether either of them will play on Thursday night.

coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Doubs is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, which is a five-step process for returning to play. In the final phase, full contact release is carried out by the association and release by an individual neurological consultant. The Doubs was restricted on Tuesday. He still has plenty of time to complete the protocol and play against the Lions, but the clock is ticking.

Regarding Alexander, the Packers plan to discuss the situation at practice on Tuesday. The All-Pro cornerback hasn't played since leaving after just 10 snaps against the Chicago Bears on November 17th. He is believed to have a torn cruciate ligament in his knee.

“We’re going to have some more conversations,” LaFleur said Tuesday. “I want to watch the tape, see where we are, talk to our coaches, talk to yes and see where we are.”

It's possible Alexander needs more time — and the Packers have extra rest after Thursday night before playing the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday night — to get his knee ready for a game again. While the Packers would love to have him around for a big NFC North showdown, Alexander returned too early in November and it cost him and the Packers more time without their best corner.

The Packers will release a final injury report on Wednesday before traveling to Detroit to play the Lions on Thursday night.
