Week 13 of the NFL season already has implications for the playoffs in the AFC. Although there are still six weeks left in the 2024 season, two AFC teams can secure playoff spots this weekend. Neither of these two teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Kansas City Chiefs can secure a spot in the playoffs with a win against the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday and a loss against the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs can also win if they beat the Raiders and lose to the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
The Buffalo Bills can also secure a spot in the playoffs this weekend. They have to beat the San Francisco 49ers and the Dolphins have to lose to the Packers on Christmas.
The Steelers were in control of their own destiny until they fell to the Cleveland Browns. Combined with a win by the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night, the battle for the top spot in the AFC North has intensified. This week the Steelers face the Cincinnati Bengals in their third straight AFC North matchup.
