Colts Week 18 opponent the Jaguars place QB Trevor Lawrence on IR

To conclude the 2024 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts host the Jacksonville Jaguars at home in Week 18.

On Wednesday, the Jaguars announced they had placed a quarterback with a concussion.

Lawrence suffered a hard, late hit Sunday from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair while slipping as a ball carrier.

Lawrence would leave the game, Al-Shair was ejected and was suspended for three games by the NFL.

At the very least, Lawrence will have to miss the next four games on IR, so it's still possible he returns and plays in the final game of the season. However, as pointed out that Lawrence's season may be over since the Jaguars have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

For the Colts, still in the hunt for the AFC playoffs, it's possible that this Week 18 game could mean a lot to them.

At 6-7 this season, they are two games behind the Broncos and the seventh seed in the AFC, but play Denver after the bye week.

A win and the Colts are just one game behind, which on paper is the easiest remaining schedule in football.

In the first meeting between the two teams in Jacksonville, Lawrence led the Jaguars to victory by completing 28 of 34 passes for 371 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

The Jaguars will enter Week 14 of the season at 2-10.
