Jacksonville Jaguars place QB Trevor Lawrence on injured reserve

The Jaguars placed quarterback Trevor Lawrence on injured reserve on Wednesday, knocking him out of at least Jacksonville's next four games as he recovers from a concussion suffered in Week 14 against the Houston Texans.

Lawrence would be eligible to return for Jacksonville's game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 18. According to the Jaguars, that is considered unlikely of 2024-25 postseason game on Monday.

Lawrence returned to play for the Jaguars against the Texans after missing one of Jacksonville's last two games .

He was hit illegally by Texas linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair while completing a six-yard rush in the second quarter on Sunday. Jacksonville and Houston Scuffles broke out as Lawrence was attended to by medical staff and eventually escorted off the field in a cart.

Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones were penalized and ejected from the game, and Jacksonville tight Evan Engram was also ejected. The NFL Al-Shair is without pay for three games on Tuesday.

Lawrence, who signed a With Jacksonville in June, he has completed 172 of 284 passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 starts this season. He added 119 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Mac Jones will take over as Jacksonville's starting quarterback, with Lawrence out. He has completed 57 of 92 passes for 512 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in five appearances this season.

CJ Beathard will serve as Jones' replacement going forward. The Jaguars quarterback John Wolford will be added to his practice squad on Tuesday.
