Progress

Since arriving in Florida, Graham Mertz has developed his quick thinking and ability to progress. Billy Napier's offense really got the best out of Mertz, and his mental processing allowed them to become even more explosive before his injury. This trait will be crucial to him staying in the NFL and having a chance to extend his career.

Decision making

Entering his first year at Florida, Mertz had 26 career interceptions. Since arriving in Florida, he has only had five. What has changed? He could slow things down. The playmakers around him helped, and he was able to keep turnovers down and grow his offense. I really like the development he has shown in this area and it matches his mental processing of what he sees on the field.

Arm strength

Mertz won't always make you say “wow” when you watch him throw, but he has the arm strength to handle whatever he needs to do. Whether it's bringing the ball upfield or pushing it through the elements we sometimes see, his arm strength can be dependable.
