The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had some issues in the secondary with consistent defensive play. However, the play of the linebacker should not be forgotten. Except for Lavonte David, everyone in the position group was disappointing.
The Seahawks released linebacker Tyrel Dodson, a move that shocked and confused many around the NFL.
In nine games with the Seahawks, he has 71 tackles, two sacks, five tackles for loss and a forced fumble. The Seahawks have created a youth movement, and even though Dodson only signed with them this offseason, he was the underdog.
The Bucs could use him to play alongside Lavonte David to help the Bucs establish a better run defense and assist in coverage. Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey could also use the help, potentially allowing them to get more pass-rush help up front.
It's a move that makes sense for all parties, and one Jason Licht should consider.
