Sean Payton takes blame for blocked field goal

The Denver Broncos' Changing room was dejected after the team's last-second 16-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

That's good.

“We have to get back to work,” quarterback Bo Nix said after the loss. “All we want to see is commitment, intensity, passion and love for the game of football. They will continue to get that from me and everyone in the locker room. It won't hurt you if you don't care. It doesn't hurt if it doesn't mean anything to you. It doesn't hurt if you don't put in the effort and want a good result. Everyone in this locker room is hurt because we're doing all this.

“We put in the energy, the effort, practicing outside in the snow, doing all these things, and it's hard, it's difficult. At some point it will work out in our favor, but at the moment it doesn't. The easiest thing to do is to give in and stop and say it's too hard. I feel like our locker room will be more responsive and continue to find ways to improve and stay on par with teams like this. At some point it will go our way.”

This is the perfect mentality for Nix and Co. for the final seven games of the season. The Broncos are allowed to play against the Chiefs again (in week 18), but attention now turns to Sunday's showdown with the Atlanta Falcons.

Denver's players have put in a lot of work, and they came so close to a big surprise win on Sunday. The loss hurt and the Broncos now want to shake off the bad taste. The first opportunity to do this is the Falcons game. Expect Denver to bounce back in Week 11.
