Accordingly Justin Herbert now has 15 game-winning drives in his career. Only Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins have more since Herbert entered the league in 2020.

- QB Justin Herbert: Herbert had no chance in the first half. While he wasn't nearly as sharp in the second half, Herbert made two big shots in the final period to lead the team to victory.
- WR Ladd McConkey: McConkey finished the game with 123 yards on six catches, including two big receptions on the final possession to put the Chargers into Bengals territory.
- RB JK Dobbins: Dobbins had 11 carries for 56 yards and two rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner.
Quick hits
- Herbert delivered dime for dime in the first half, completing 10 of 14 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns. However, the same level of play did not continue into the second half.
- The Chargers couldn't move the ball and went three times out of bounds on half of their offensive possession, while the Bengals crawled back with 21 unanswered points led by Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to close out the game.
- The Bengals had two chances to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but Evan McPherson missed his field goal attempts from 48 and 51 yards.
- In years past, Los Angeles would have blown games like this (that reminded me of the playoff loss to the Jaguars). But in the end, the defense was able to get a big stop, Herbert rallied the offense with two big throws to McConkey, and Dobbins delivered the knockout blow.
- Herbert finished the game completing 17 of 36 passes for 297 yards, two touchdowns and five runs for 65 yards. Although he didn't capitalize on some dropped passes, there were a few miscues in the second half where he missed receivers. Herbert also lost a fumble early in the fourth quarter.
- For the first time this season, the Chargers defense gave up more than 20 points. They allowed the Bengals to convert on all three of their fourth down attempts. Cincinnati totaled 452 yards.
