Braden Fiske is a purely defensive player for the Los Angeles Rams, but he made a play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday that could make Sean McVay change his mind.
In the first quarter, Fiske recovered what appeared to be a fumble and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown, but the play was called back because it was an incomplete pass. That didn't stop Fiske from showcasing his speed and ball-carrying skills, sliding to pick up the loose ball, sprinting down the right sideline, retreating to the left and weaving his way into the end zone.

McVay loved what he saw from Fiske on that play, even if it didn't count, and he joked about the possibility of giving him goal-line tackles as a fullback.
“Oh man! I think he answered the question, 'If you gave one of the D-linemen a fullback dive, who would it be?' He looked great,” McVay said excitedly. “I mean, he got up quick. I thought there were great examples of Kam Kinchens and Jaylen McCollough getting some blocks. Oh man. The damn tuck rule.”
JB Long then suggested the idea of red zone touches for Fiske.
“So you’re saying a red zone package for Braden Fiske,” he said.
“I say, hey, he’s a candidate,” McVay responded. “I mean, he looked smooth. …But that was a funny piece. We’ll have a lot of fun with that on Wednesday.”
Look, it would be great to see Fiske get some goal-line offense at fullback at some point, but if the Rams give him a chance to run the ball after depriving Aaron Donald of that opportunity throughout his career, McVay will never forgive that .
However, give #55 the ball and let him bowl into the end zone. After all, he played running back as a football player in his youth.
