Emmanuel Forbes unlikely to make Rams debut vs Bills on Sunday

Rams fans will have to wait a while to see the team's newest cornerback, Emmanuel Forbes. Rams head coach Sean McVay said Forbes likely won't make his team debut this weekend when Los Angeles hosts the Bills.

At his press conference on Wednesday, McVay cited Forbes' unfamiliarity with the defense and playbook as reasons for his decision.

While this move makes the most sense, especially when dealing with a player who needs a good start to rebuild his confidence, it's a bit disappointing for Rams fans that they have to wait for a player as talented as Forbes enters the field.

However, the move not only allows Forbes to acclimate to the team, but also gives the team time to implement its patented player career rehabilitation program.

According to former NFL DB Terrell Buckley, Forbes is “a very good player who still needs some development. “Once he learns what it means to be a pro, he'll hit the ground running.”

Buckley was instrumental in recruiting Forbes to Mississippi State.

With Darious Williams, Cobie Durant and Ahkello Witherspoon listed ahead of Forbes on the depth chart, it's safe to assume Forbes' commitment will gradually increase over time. With two years left on his contract and a potential fifth-year option that the Rams don't have to make a decision on until after next season, there's still plenty of time to mold Forbes into the player he can be.
