One reason the game got away from the 49ers was rookie wide receiver Jacob Cowing fending off a punt in the third quarter. That gave the Buccaneers a short field and they capitalized on a 21-yard touchdown drive, tying the game at 10-10 early in the third.
Moody was also a problem for the 49ers in his first game back after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 5. He missed three field goals and put San Francisco in a tough spot after several of their drives stalled. Head coach Kyle Shanahan gave Moody a vote of confidence after the game, but the 49ers may handle some offenses differently to avoid having to rely on Moody moving forward.
