The Seattle Seahawks have won three straight contests and are currently atop the NFC West. Of course, several of Mike Macdonald's players deserve Pro Bowl consideration. On Monday, after a week of fan voting, the Seahawks had two players ranked in the top 10 at their position. They are safety Julian Love (fifth overall, third in the NFC) and special teams returner Laviska Shenault Jr. (fourth overall, fourth in the NFC).
Well, embarrassingly, that The Seahawks have released Shenault Jr. from his contract on Monday, making Love the only active player in the top 10 of Pro Bowl voting at his position.
After a week of Pro Bowl voting by fans, the Seahawks have two players ranked in the top 10 at their position as of Monday morning:
— SS Julian Love (5th overall, 3rd in NFC)
— Returning player Laviska Shenault Jr (4th overall, 4th in NFC)— Dugar, Michael Shawn (@MikeDugar)
Shenault Jr. had a truly disastrous performance against the New York Jets that could have easily tipped the outcome in the Jets' favor. After fellow struggling returner Dee Williams botched a kickoff, Shenault parried a kick of his own. He was able to recover, but his error returned the Seahawks' offense to their own 12-yard line.
Just minutes later, the Jets scored a special teams touchdown on a 99-yard kickoff return. Shenault had the opportunity to redeem himself. Instead, he thwarted a second straight return, and this time the ball was recovered by the Jets at the Seattle 38-yard line, ironically leading to this Leonard Williams' historic 92-yard pick-six return TD.
Love has been a standout for the Seahawks in 2024. The versatile safety has recorded 82 tackles and is on pace for his third consecutive 100-tackle season. Love also added two interceptions and seven pass breakups to his defensive numbers. He deserves consideration in the Pro Bowl.
