RALEIGH, N.C. – Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen is expected to miss at least two months due to knee surgery.
The Hurricanes announced that the 35-year-old goaltender will undergo surgery and the recovery time is expected to be 8 to 12 weeks. This comes about a week after coach Rod Brind'Amour said the team had originally hoped Andersen would be week-to-week but was now facing a “much longer” time frame due to an unspecified injury.
Andersen has not played since October 26th. Brind'Amour also said Andersen's absence had nothing to do with the blood clotting disorder that sidelined him for much of the regular season last year.
Andersen has a 3-1-0 record this season with a 1.48 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage.
Carolina won in Philadelphia and next visits New Jersey in the middle of a three-game road stretch.
