Arne Slot has admitted he is not sure if Ibrahima Konate will be fit for Sunday's game against Manchester City.
The French central defender probably suffered a knee injury in the final stages LiverpoolThe 2-0 win against Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.
Konate required late medical attention after being fouled by Los Blancos star Endrick.
His teammates crowded around the player before he got back to his feet.
But the pain was there for all to see after the final whistle as he grimaced on the way to the tunnel.
In worrying scenes, he even had to stop during the walk to hold his right knee.
Konate wasn't the only Liverpool star to suffer an injury, with right-back Conor Bradley also suffering a blow to his hamstring.
Commenting on the pair, Slot's coach stressed that it was too early to reassure fans that they would be fit to face Premier League title rivals City.
He said of the duo: “It's difficult to make a judgment so soon after the game.”
“I really hope they’re both ready to play.”
Konate has started the last 11 top-flight games after coming on as a half-time substitute for Jarell Quansah away to Ipswich on the opening day of the season.
He was one of the main reasons why Liverpool are eight points clear at the top of the table and have only conceded eight goals in the league.

And the thought of Konate being unavailable against Pep Guardiola's men proved difficult for Liverpool fans to bear.
One user wrote to X: “If Konate's injury is serious, then these three points are important.” [vs Madrid] It’s just not worth it.”
Another wrote: “A Konate injury would completely ruin this evening. That’s the last thing we need.”
A third added: “This Konate injury doesn't allow me to be happy with this win.”
And this fan simply said: “This Konate injury could be an absolute disaster for our season…”
Should Konate miss out against City, Quansah would likely return to the starting XI for the first time since August.
