Stephen A. Smith accused Dan Orlovsky of “not making sense” when he gave his opinion on the Philadelphia Eagles in a hilarious segment on First Take.
And impressed again as Philly won for the eighth straight year NFL game on Sunday and secured a 24:19 away win against the to go 10-2 this season.
Barkley solidified his case for the MVP award with a game-winning 25-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Hurts, meanwhile, continues to receive praise for his game management as Philadelphia remains on track for playoff success.
Orlovsky is one of the analysts who seemed overwhelmed by their efforts, and after a key win over the Ravens, he had high praise for the Eagles.
“In the worst case scenario, they are the second best team in football. The best team in football is this still, but Philadelphia is hot on their heels,” he said when host Molly Qerim asked if Philadelphia could be considered the NFC’s best team.
While that's not exactly an outrageous stance, Smith disagreed with Orlovsky, as he previously suggested I'll come back to that this year.
“Sometimes you don’t make sense, no matter how smart you are at football,” he interrupted Orlovsky.
“I keep trying to tell a brother he can’t hide from me. I saw you live on NFL, bro, and I see the things you say.”
“On one hand you have the Kansas City Chiefs, and then you talk about the Detroit Lions. Correct me if I’m wrong, that’s two teams?”
“But you’re saying the Eagles are the second-best team in football?”
Qerim also suggested that Orlovsky was “a little hypocritical” by giving the Eagles such praise after suggesting that the Chiefs would reach the Super Bowl for the third straight year.
When pressed by his colleagues, Orlovsky tried to clarify his position.
“First, the Lions and Eagles play in the NFC, the Chiefs play in the AFC. I've been saying for weeks that the Lions are the best team in football – two things can be true – but you have to beat the Chiefs if.” “It's win or go home,” he said.
“This is not Week 14 of the NFL season, you have to take (Patrick) Mahomes out. That’s my stance on Kansas City.”
“In the worst case scenario, the Eagles are the second best team in football. I think they are a better team than the Chiefs. But when it matters most, you have to beat (the Chiefs) in the Super Bowl.” when it matters most.
Orlovsky concluded by saying that the Eagles are a “phenomenal” team and will be Super Bowl contenders if they can avoid starting games slowly.
With a record of 10-2, the Eagles will next face the Carolina Panthers in Week 14 as they continue their march toward the playoffs.
