David Moyes Everton job a different beast and too big to turn down

Moyes became the Premier League's youngest manager when he took over Everton in 2002 at the age of 39, and 23 years later he is now the oldest manager in the top flight.

In his first spell as manager, Everton consistently finished in the top half of the table, competed in Europe and reached an FA Cup final.

But he takes the reins from Dyche in a very different position.

Everton avoided relegation last season after being deducted eight points for two breaches of Financial Fair Play rules.

And they are still struggling at the wrong end of the table this season, just one point above the relegation zone in 16th place.

Moyes must ensure that the club moves to the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock as a Premier League team in the summer.

“I don’t think it will be the same as Everton,” said Moyes, whose first game is against Aston Villa on Wednesday. “And it’s probably not the same David Moyes. Maybe a little more experience, a little wiser.”

“Ultimately we have to make sure we don’t hit rock bottom. That is the crucial key. After that, we can decide what happens next and what we do from there.”

He added to BBC Sport: “I see it as a huge pressure when you care so much about a club and you've had it for such a long time.” [away]I realize it's a really popular club that needs to be in the top flight – and already has been.

“It would be a great feeling for all of us to be in the new stadium. Above all, it would be great if we were a Premier League club and could give everyone something to be happy about.”
