Kevin de Bruyne says he is unsure if this will be his last season at Manchester City after talks over a contract extension were put on hold.
The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder's contract expires at the end of the season but he has paused negotiations while he recovers from a thigh problem he suffered in September.
He has only made nine appearances this season but has been substituted in each of City's last three games as he returns to full fitness.
“At the start of the season I obviously knew there would be talks, but then I had the thing.” [thigh injury] against Brentford and put that aside,” said De Bruyne.
“I was hoping to be out for days, but it ended up being eight or nine weeks and I'd rather come back first and the rest will come.”
“I'm not too obsessed with things, but I can't say much. I’m fine, I’m happy, I just want to play football again and we’ll see.”
“Conversations will come, if no talks come it will be my last year. I just want to play good football.”
De Bruyne added that he spoke to the club about his future last summer but was “not in the right mood” to continue discussions after his injury.
