His Leicester side were forced to take advantage of their luck against West Ham at times, but a smiling Ruud van Nistelrooy's win has already given Foxes fans their 'faith' back.
The Dutchman was appointed on Friday to replace Steve Cooper, who was sacked as Leicester manager after just 12 Premier League games.
Van Nistelrooy watched in the stands on Sunday as his new side beat Brentford 4-1 alongside Leicester owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
However, his first game in charge got off to a perfect start on Tuesday as Jamie Vardy's early opener put the Foxes on their way to success 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium.
“Ultimately you look at the result and the three points. In the situation we find ourselves in, this is crucial,” said Van Nistelrooy, 48.
“We know the level in the Premier League and know in every game that everything has to be right. We have to train and develop our defense, our counterattack and our possession of the ball.”
“There is a lot to do, but I am very happy with the three points.”
The win sees Leicester move up to 15th in the Premier League, two points behind the Hammers.
“On the third day of work at the club it was very tiring getting to know everyone. Everyone was involved and helped. They were tiring and long days, but it was worth it,” Van Nistelrooy said in a press conference after the game.
“I was focused on the moment and today I'm going to grab a small beer and reflect on the last three days.”
Graham Potter, the former Brighton and Chelsea manager, said it was the “perfect start” and meant fans “will have the trust and belief in the new manager and that is so important”.
“You can talk all you want, but if the players actually believe him and follow what he says, that can be very powerful,” he told Amazon Prime. “The best way to gain faith is to win football games.”
