Davis Cup 2025 Great Britain draw Japan as Italy named as Final Eight hosts

Great Britain has been allocated a trip to Japan in the first round of qualifying for the 2025 Davis Cup, where Italy will host the eight-nation finals.

Great Britain, seeded 11th, will face Japan in the men's team competition in late January/early February, a week after the end of the Australian Open.

If they win, Leon Smith's team will advance to the second qualifying round – also a home or away game after another revamp for the 124-year-old tournament – in September.

The opponents for Great Britain or Japan are either fourth seed Germany, who reached the semi-finals this year, or Israel.

Britain will ultimately aim to secure a place in the eight-team finals in November, which the International Tennis Federation has decided to move to Italy.

The city of Bologna will host the 2025 edition, replacing the Spanish city of Malaga, which hosted this year's event in November.
