AEW Dynamite live results ROH World title match Continental Classic begins

The Full Gear Fallout edition of AEW Dynamite returns to Chicago with a Ring of Honor World title match and the start of the Continental Classic.

In only the second singles meeting of their careers, Chris Jericho and Tomohiro Ishii will face off, with Jericho's ROH title on the line. The previous match between the two also took place on a Thanksgiving Eve edition of Dynamite in November 2022.

The second-ever Continental Classic begins with Darby Allin vs. Brody King and Ricochet vs. Claudio Castagnoli in the Gold League and Mark Briscoe vs. Shelton Benjamin in the Blue League.

Queen Aminata takes on Jamie Hayter to kick off the AEW qualifying portion of the Wrestle Dynasty International Women's Cup.

The sequel to Full Gear will begin after Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship with a victory over Orange Cassidy in last Saturday's PPV main event, followed by a chaotic scene.

AEW Dynamite goes live with a November Rain recap video from Full Gear, which ends with Darby Allin stumbling out of the car, covered in blood as he rams into the Death Riders' truck, outside the arena and saying that it's for Jon Moxley will be hard to kill AEW if he's the one who dies first.

Excalibur welcomes us along with Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness and says there will be some changes to the format of the Continental Classic this year as everyone is banned from the ring and there is a 20 minute time limit. Similar to last year, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. We're told that the Gold League winner will face the Blue League runner-up and the Blue League winner will face the Gold League runner-up at the World's End as well as the Continental Classic Finals. So both winners will compete against each other twice that evening.

The Hurt Syndicate makes their way to the ring as MVP has an official announcement for the crowd. Given that they're in Chicago, it's fair to say he stands between two of the best to ever grace a wrestling ring, comparing Shelton Benjamin to Walter Payton and Bobby Lashley to Michael Jordan. The crowd chants “MVP,” but he said it’s not about him, but about the Syndicate and the lessons it teaches. If he offers you his business card, he will give you a golden ticket. Rejecting them and being arrogant like Swerve Strickland while reminiscing about the highlights of Lashley defeating Strickland at full gear. MVP said Strickland isn't the most dangerous man in AEW, but rather Lashley, the walking Armageddon. Their mission statement is to win championship titles and use them to gain more money and power. They are the merchants of misery and tonight Benjamin will show you what they are capable of. They are the best in the business when it comes to hurting people.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Mark Briscoe in the Continental Classic Blue League

(These two haven't faced each other since the feud between the Worlds Greatest Tag Team and the Briscoes in Ring of Honor, so it's nice to see them picking up where they left off. This will be an ongoing trend, this for the entire C2 But this was a very good match to start the tournament. Benjamin has looked awfully impressive since he arrived in AEW, and there aren't many who have made his opponent look better than Briscoe this year than last year, but tonight it was important to make Benjamin look strong, and he did just that.)

Briscoe had a stare-down with Lashley as he and MVP went to the back, and that's a match I definitely want to see in the near future. Apparently we had a code of honor, but Benjamin tried to pull in Briscoe, who quickly threw a punch and dove to the outside. Briscoe tried to get the crowd going, but the delay led to an overhead suplex from Benjamin, who drove Briscoe into the steps and wanted a count-out. Briscoe recovered, brought Benjamin back outside, and landed on his feet with a somersault. Briscoe went to the top while Benjamin jumped up, climbed the ropes and hit a superplex as it went to commercial.

Benjamin remained in control as things returned until Briscoe started not selling anything and really put his foot down. Palm strikes supported Benjamin and allowed Briscoe to fire chops and roll the Death Valley Driver. Back on top, Briscoe successfully hits the Froggy Bow, but clutches his own ribs. Benjamin rolled outside, but Briscoe hit another elbow from the apron. Back in, Briscoe went for a third, but Benjmain got his knees up and hit a series of German suplexes before Briscoe hit the brakes with an enzugiri. Benjamin dodged Jay Driller and hit the rewind kick, followed by the step-up corner knee and the monster thrust kick for a two count. Benjamin hit another flush before hitting the T-Bone Suplex for the win. After the match, Lashley and MVP came to the ring to celebrate with Benjamin, who is first on the board at the Continental Classic tournament.

-Tony Schiavone welcomes TBS champion Mercedes Mone to the stage as balloons are placed at the entrance. Mone comes out with Kamille, her arm still in the sling as she tells Chicago to say hello to the CEO. Schiavone said Mone turned the wrestling world on its head after her win at Full Gear with Kris Statlander and said many consider it the women's fight of the year. Mone said it felt good and Statlander proved she was one of the best, but Mone proved she was the greatest TBS champion of all time. Mone said that since Kamille can't do anything right, she was about to fire her when Kamille took the microphone and told her to shut up. She asked if Mone was stupid or stupid and said Mone couldn't fire her, she was quitting. Kamille stormed out and Mone threw a tantrum as the crowd chanted “You deserve it.” This whole argument felt super rushed and pretty disappointing, but the crowd responded to Kamille finally standing up for herself.
