Bangladesh v Ireland ODIs Hosts complete 3 0 series win in Mirpur

Bangladesh completed a 3-0 one-day international series win over Ireland as Sharmin Akter's 72 helped the dominant hosts win by seven wickets with 12.3 overs to spare.

In a repeat performance of Game two on Saturday Ireland failed to score enough with the bat to put Bangladesh under pressure in Mirpur.

Although captain Gaby Lewis scored 52, Ireland's best partnership was the 48 made by the skipper and Amy Hunter for the second wicket.

Hunter's dismissal for 23 after being caught left-handed by Rabeya Khan left the tourists 57-2 after 19.1 overs.

Lewis and Orla Prendergast (27) then formed a partnership of 40 but the wickets fell after the skipper was bowled by Fahima Khatun, who finished with figures of 3-43 from her 10 overs.

Bangladesh lost Murshida Khatun early in their reply, but Akter and Saturday's batting star Fargana Hoque Pinky completely took the game away from the Irish by posting a partnership of 143.

Akter was eventually dismissed by Aimee Maguire in the 33rd over, Hoque Pinky was bowled out for 61 two overs later, with Maguire once again claiming the wicket.

Nigar Sultana Joty (18) and Sobhana Mostary (seven) led the hosts to their third emphatic win of the series.

A three-match T20 series between the countries begins in Sylhet on Thursday, with the remaining matches taking place on Saturday and next Monday.
