England in West Indies Jos Buttler smashes brilliant 83 as tourists win second T20

The decision to move Buttler to number three after so much success as England's opener caused a stir.

But considering he was facing the second ball of the innings after Salt had chipped Akeal Hosein to cover the first ball a day after his century in the first T20, the England captain might as well have opened.

After a golden duck on Saturday, Buttler made a cautious start and it was Jacks who made the start as England upped the tempo late in the powerplay.

From the moment he hit Shepherd for a huge straight six in the sixth over, with two boundaries either side, Buttler led the attack.

The 34-year-old hammered Gudakesh Motie onto the roof of Kensington Oval and hit Roston Chase into the stands for a 32-ball fifth.

When he hit back-to-back tops against Chase a few overs later, an England victory seemed certain, as did a Buttler hundred.

However, he let a slower ball run from Shepherd in the next over and was denied a second T20 International ton.

Liam Livingstone came into the game and smashed an unbeaten 23 from 11 balls to get the job done for England in a hurry.

Ditching the wicketkeeping gloves and switching to batting at three were the big decisions Buttler made ahead of this series and it remains to be seen whether they are the right decisions in the long run.

But with two wins from two games and a typically swashbuckling innings so far, the early signs are certainly positive.
