James Anderson England legend in talks to continue career with Lancashire

While no deal has yet been negotiated for Anderson to remain England manager next summer, Ben Stokes' side are understood to be interested in his return.

England's next Test is against Zimbabwe on May 22, followed by a highly anticipated five-Test series against India starting June 20.

Lancashire, who were relegated from Division One last season, have six County Championship games before the Zimbabwe Test.

Anderson played once for Lancashire last season before his Lord's departure, taking 7-35 in the first innings against Nottinghamshire.

Anderson's retirement came after England decided to look to the future with their bowling attack, and he left the international stage with 704 Test wickets – the most by a pace bowler.

His first-class tally stands at 1,126, including 376 for Lancashire in 95 games since his debut in 2002.

Anderson has not played white-ball cricket since 2019 and his last T20 game was in 2014.

Lancashire's T20 Blast campaign begins on May 29th.
