This all leads to the dream of holding a World Cup.
Jersey will face Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy and neighbors Guernsey next summer for a place in the 2026 T20 World Cup final in India and Sri Lanka.
The top two teams in the group will progress, with Jersey finishing fourth in qualifying in 2023 and just one win away from reaching the knockout stages of the global qualifying tournament a year earlier.
“Playing against teams like that – Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands – those are the games you want to play in as a player,” says Tribe.
“We have come very close to beating the likes of Scotland in the past and we know as a team we are not far away. That's why we always go onto the field and assume that we will come away with a victory in our hands.” .
“They're the games that you prepare for over the winter, that you do all the pre-season preparation for, so hopefully you can go out there and give your best on the day.”
“These world tournaments are so brutal now,” adds Carlyon.
“All these other teams are getting better and finding players and getting stronger.”
“It’s different in Jersey. The core squad consists entirely of Jersey players and are all homegrown players. So we have to work hard, be professional and compete with these teams.”
