Batter Paige Scholfield has been withdrawn from England's T20 squad for the tour of South Africa due to an ankle injury.
England said the 28-year-old was injured during a training session on Tuesday.
“Following further assessments, she will now return to the UK to begin her rehabilitation,” the team said.
Scholfield was a surprise selection in the T20 squad ahead of Alice Capsey as England made changes after being eliminated in the group stage from the T20 World Cup in October.
She made her ODI and T20 debut against Ireland in September and also played for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred this year.
Capsey, meanwhile, was recalled to the T20 squad on Monday “due to some minor injury concerns within the squad.”
England will play the first of three T20s against South Africa on Sunday. The tour also includes three ODIs and a four-day Test.
