Patriots claim former Dolphins OL Lester Cotton off waivers

One day after being released by the Miami Dolphins, veteran offensive lineman Lester Cotton is now a member of the New England Patriots.

The Patriots claimed Cotton on Tuesday after releasing him to make room on the Dolphins' roster for offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn, who was expected to come off injured reserve.

Cotton, 28, joined the Dolphins for the first time in 2022 after being claimed off waivers at the end of the year. He previously spent most of his first four seasons in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 330-pound guard played 28 games for Miami and started eight in the 2023 season after Wynn suffered a season-ending quadriceps injury. While competing for a starting role in 2024, Cotton was beaten out for a starting role by Robert Jones and Liam Eichenberg.

Still, Cotton has appeared in all 11 games the Dolphins have played so far this season, playing 60 snaps on offense and 46 on special teams.
