Ricochet is ready to show the wrestling world that he can be a top guy.
During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso for UndisputedThe 36-year-old said he has some lofty goals now that he's in AEW, including becoming world champion.
“I’m going to show everyone that I’m the man,” he said. “I will prove that I can run a company. It’s time to show everyone why I’m here.”
“I talked to my wife about it and said there is one hurdle in my career that I have to overcome and that is being the top dog,” he continued. “Becoming the best is not why I started wrestling. I was a 14 year old kid and wrestling kept me off the streets. It was fun, it allowed me to travel and I fell in love with it. That was always my goal, but now it’s different.”
“I believe I’m one of the best and I’m going to show it here.”
“So much is possible. It's a new beginning. There is no guarantee that it will work. But over the last 21 years, everywhere I've worked has worked out pretty well. This is my chance to get to the next level.”
Ricochet also addressed his decision not to re-sign with WWE, where he worked from 2018 to 2024. He says his departure is not a setback for the company.
“WWE is killing it, they’re doing great,” he said. “It was the right move for the Ricochet character. It's not a blow to her. For me, being in AEW is the right path. I'm really happy with the decision I made. It's better to have two top promotions, that's better for the market. And here Ricochet will be able to demonstrate all his skills.”
“It’s really damn cool that people wanted me to stay. But it feels right here, it feels natural. This is a place where I can finally show the world who I am.”
“AEW is a company built on people betting on themselves. This is really the right place for me.”
Ricochet will be in action tonight on AEW Dynamite. He is scheduled to face the Don Callis Family with Mark Davis, Will Ospreay and Powerhouse Hobbs in an eight-man tag team match.
