Even The Miz was surprised to learn that a documentary about him was titled “Biography: WWE Legends.” Some may scoff at giving such a prestigious label to the reality star turned WWE superstar, but John Cena would be the first to justify that claim.

“He is the most underrated WWE Superstar in the history of the business, not one of the most, but the most underrated,” Cena said in a trailer for The Miz. A&E's “Biography: WWE Legends” Premiere of the documentary on Sunday.

The Miz has achieved 21 title wins during his 20-year career in WWE, most notably winning the WWE Championship twice. A lesser known fact is that Miz is WWE's first two-time Grand Slam Champion, a feat only accomplished by Seth Rollins. A modern Grand Slam champion must earn a world title, a tag team title, and both the Intercontinental and United States titles. The Miz first accomplished this feat in 2010, joining the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. In 2021, he completed the cycle a second time by defeating Drew McIntyre to become WWE Champion.

These performances lend credence to Cena's argument, especially considering The Miz is primarily a midcard talent.

“The fact that he took the time to do my documentary means a lot to me because he literally spent so much time with me and taught me how to be a top-notch superstar,” Miz told CBS Sports. “I hope I have lived up to his teachings and this comment made me feel like I did and that means a lot to me.”

The Miz and Cena were main competitors in the early 2010s, facing off against each other in several pay-per-view matches. Miz, once a black sheep in the locker room, praises Cena for making him one of WWE's most consistent acts.

“I don’t think anyone understands how much John Cena taught me in a WWE ring. Not just inside but also outside the ring. “He’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world…He’s in everything,” Miz said. “It shows that when Cena puts his mind to something, he goes all out and wants to do anything.”

The highlight of Miz's career is arguably his WrestleMania 27 main event match against Cena. The Miz defeated him and retained the WWE Championship with support from The Rock. It was a moment made even sweeter and more surreal by the presence of Miz.

“I'm attending WrestleMania with John Cena, watching his performance and looking over and seeing my best friends from high school who were in my living room watching The Rock [Steve] “Austin is fighting for the title that I hold,” Miz said. “I watch John Cena run into the ring and I look at my guys saying, 'We did it.'”

Cena surprised fans at WWE Money in the Bank on July 6th announces his retirement tour. Cena will appear in WWE's debut on Netflix in January along with Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41. Any Superstar will likely be looking forward to the chance to face Cena one last time. The Miz among them.

“I’m putting my name in the hat!” Miz said. “I’ve been in the ring with John Cena a lot and selfishly I wish I had more because that’s how much fun it is to get in the ring with John Cena.”

“But I also want our new talent to meet John Cena. Because as much as I learned from John and as much as I can teach what John taught me, it's always better when you have that man there to teach you something. I want our younger talent to feel that energy.

The Miz still has more goals on his bucket list before WrestleMania 41 in April. The Miz is currently not fully booked SummerSlam on August 3rd but really wants to perform at the Cleveland Browns Stadium, the venue of his childhood. Winning the Royal Rumble is another primary goal for a superstar who has accomplished almost everything but sees no end to his career in sight.
