West Indies vs England Fifth T20 washed out by rain as visitors win series 3 1

The fifth and final T20 of the series between England and the West Indies was flooded by heavy rain in Saint Lucia.

England captain Jos Buttler opted to bowl first and the hosts reached 44-0 in five overs before the downpour began.

Ground staff attempted to clear the wet outfield for a restart but the game was ultimately abandoned at 22:15 GMT without result.

West Indies openers Evin Lewis and Shai Hope made 29 and 14 respectively and looked to add another confident partnership after their 136 in nine overs on the year Fourth T20.

England win the T20 series 3-1 after losing the one-day international leg of the tour 2-1.

Opener Phil Salt finished as the series' leading run-scorer with 162 runs in four innings, including an unbeaten 103 in the first T20, followed by West Indies captain Rovman Powell with 153.

England seamer Saqib Mahmood was the leading wicket-taker and was rested for the final game, picking up nine scalps in four games.

England are next in action with three Tests in New Zealand starting on November 27, with the Whites taking on India in January.

This will be Brendon McCullum's first stint as white-ball head coach.
