WWE plans to capitalize on the nostalgia with the return of Saturday Night Main Event on December 14th. But this evening won't be the only evening where the classic '80s concept that helped promote wrestling's Golden Era leaves its mark. Accordingly WrestleVotes RadioWWE plans to produce five special Saturday Night's Main Event shows by the end of 2025.
Saturday night's main event won't just be one night
Of the five specials WWE plans to produce, one of those events will strategically take place before WrestleMania 41, adding to the hype surrounding the company's biggest show of the year.
As previously mentioned, the first of these highly anticipated events will take place on December 14th at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. Airing at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and simulcast on Peacock. WWE has been promoting the event heavily and while the card hasn't been finalized yet, they've promised a star-studded lineup. There is speculation that WWE is going retro, combining the classic elements that have defined Saturday Night's main event in the past with the elevated production values of today's WWE.
These specials will also be part of the main program and preparation for their biggest premium live events. Each event is stacked and treated as a separate PLE.

What should be the main event of Saturday night's main event in December?
Saturday Night's Main Event returns for WWE in December. But what should the main event be? I think this event is the perfect time for WWE to attack Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu in their title defense. I don't like the match as a PLE match, but I do like it as a network special.
WWE is smart to recall a classic
WWE's strategy of using its rich history to appeal to both nostalgic fans and new viewers is a smart one. Originally broadcast in the mid-1980s and a crucial part of WWE's mainstream breakthrough, Saturday Night's Main Event holds a special place in wrestling lore. By bringing it back in a meaningful way, WWE is giving older fans something to love and introducing new fans to the legendary show.
These old episodes were must-see television moments, including Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage and others. These new events will feature today's biggest stars.
Fans can expect that these specials are not only a nod to the past, but also represent the beginning of the future.
