New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who remains one of the few bright spots in a difficult season, is proud to be available for the team.
He missed most of his rookie season after suffering a shoulder injury. This injury weighed heavily on Gonzalez, as it was the first time in his football career that he had missed so much time off the field.
“I am very proud. I mean, I don’t want to go back, but last year was the first time I got hurt.” . “Not being able to be out there with the team last year hurt a lot mentally. From this point on, I always want to be on the field to help the team as much as I can.”
Gonzalez battled a hip injury before last week's game against the Miami Dolphins, but came in to play and recovered a fumble for a 63-yard touchdown. He also had three tackles and one pass deflection on the day.
It's been a strong rebound season for the second-year player, who has quickly become a cornerstone of the Patriots' defense.
