Warwickshire: Gavin Larsen quits as Bears performance director

Larsen will return to New Zealand next week but will remain in office in the new year “to ensure a smooth transition”.

Warwickshire CEO Stuart Cain said: “Gavin has great energy and a depth of cricketing knowledge that is second to none.”

“He has worked tirelessly to improve the high performance environment. Although not linked, we will now combine the results of the high performance review with the opportunity to refresh our high performance leadership team.”

Under first-team coach Mark Robinson, Warwickshire finished seventh out of 10 in the County Championship last season, winning just once in 14 games. This leaves Warwickshire ahead by 25 points. They lost for the fifth time in a row in the quarter-finals of the T20 Blast – and also in the semi-finals of the One-Day Cup.

Following the Reorganization of women's cricket in this countryWarwickshire will also field a women's team for the first time next season, under Alistair Maidentakes part in the Women's T20 and the Women's One-Day Cup.
