Goals are again aplenty for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but could the Magpies soon face a battle to keep him at St James' Park?
The 25-year-old Swedish striker scored for the fourth time in four games to help his team come from behind beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Sunday, and his all-round performance impressed former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott, who was watching for BBC MOTD2.
“When you talk about the shape for the ultimate physique of a perfect striker, Isak has all those elements,” Walcott told BBC Sport.
“I’m not saying he’s perfect yet, but he has all the qualities he needs to be perfect.”
“I don’t know if that will happen in Newcastle. But they have to tie him up quickly or they’ll lose him.”
“Isak is the kind of player Arsenal really need, but you would say everyone needs a player like him in their team now, even Liverpool, and it's not just Premier League teams who will be looking to get him to reach.”
“Look at Real Madrid’s lineup at this moment. They choose these Galacticos and buy these incredible talents, but sometimes they put them in positions where they can’t quite do it.”
“I would say if you put Isak in this Real team he shapes them in a different way, so you would think they look like a very balanced team now.”
“That’s the level he’s at and I can totally understand why all the top teams want him.”
“As well as being an all-round striker, he also scores goals – all sorts of goals. As I said on MOTD2, his finish against Forest, when the ball fell for him in the box after the brilliant header, was pure class.” He played against Arsenal last week.
“There can be more to come from him too. Newcastle are a good team, but if you put him in a better team he would get better too.”
