The Melbourne Renegades secured their fourth win in the 2024-25 Women's Big Bash League to reach second place after defeating the Adelaide Strikers by nine wickets in the 23rd match in Adelaide. Let’s look at the highlights of AS-W vs MR-W.

Chasing a big target of 186 was never a problem for the Renegades as their in-form, top-class batsman made the chase a cakewalk.

Invited to bat, the Strikers openers got their side off to a solid start with an opening stand of 56 runs off 35 balls before Katie Mack was bowled out for 19 on the final delivery of the powerplay.

Smriti Mandhana, who was the aggressor in the opening stand, scored a 25-ball 40. Laura Wolvaardt (27) and captain Tahlia McGrath then added 66 for the third wicket.

McGrath's 49 off 24 during the middle overs and Orla Prendergast's 24 at 200 took the Adelaide Strikers to 185 in 20 overs.

The Melbourne Renegades got off to a great start, recording 101 for the first wicket before Webb retired with 37 due to injury.

Alice Capsey was eliminated at 4, which was Renegades' only ejection of the match. Hayley Matthews continued to play aggressive cricket from one end and scored a sensational knock of 85 not out for 54.

While Deandra Dottin, who joined her in the middle after Capsey's wicket, scored 46* from just 18 with the help of seven fours and a maximum, Renegades chased the target with nine wickets in hand and 17 balls remaining.

Skipper Hayley Matthews remained the game's top individual scorer with her match-winning 54-ball 85* during the chase, while she also bagged two wickets with the ball to pick up the Player of the Match award.
