What happens if Pakistan loses hosting rights for the Champions Trophy?
If Pakistan loses the hosting rights, it will also lose a $6 million hosting fee and a significant portion of its annual cricket revenue, estimated at around $35 million. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through secretary Jay Shah has stated that the Indian cricket team will not travel to Pakistan due to security reasons. The Indian Foreign Ministry supports this position.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the ICC meeting in support of Pakistan While this is the case, the International Cricket Council insists that the hybrid model is the only viable option. If the ICC decides to play the Champions Trophy without Pakistan, it could discuss compensating Pakistan for the loss of hosting rights.
