Interesting scenes unfolded at the mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League when Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani moved to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru management table after they failed to use their Right To Match (RTM). had. card for your current former player, cricket-players/will-jacks/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Will Jacks.
MI management had taken its time before putting Jacks up for sale, whose base price was INR 2 crore. The Punjab Kings and MI were apparently fighting for the hard-hitting all-rounder, who made his Indian Premier League debut in the 2024 edition. Priced at INR 5.25 crore, PBKS deviated and it was MI who finally bagged Jacks. Leading up to the auction and even during the event in Jeddah, there were high expectations from RCB management to use their RTM card for Jacks, but this was not the case.
After congratulating head coach Mahela Jayawardene and mother Nita Ambani, Akash went to the table where RCB's decision-makers were sitting to shake hands with some of their stakeholders, which included the director of cricket of the RCB franchise, Mo Bobat. Understandably, Akash was all smiles after securing the services of Jacks in what can surely be described as a bargain deal for the most successful franchise of all time.

MI recruits Reece Topley
As the mega auction for IPL 2025 continues in full swing in Saudi Arabia, it is now also clear that another England player, Reece Topley, has been snapped up by MI. MI's offer was the first and last for the left-hander.
Topley was sold at its base price of INR 75 lakh. RCB did not use the RTM card for him either. Topley only played five games for RCB in the two seasons he was there.
