The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will begin on November 24 and end on November 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Since the league's inception in 2008, the IPL auction has mesmerized fans. They wait with bated breath for the auctions to see how their teams put together their rosters. The IPL 2025 mega auction will provide another opportunity for teams to revamp their squads and fight for the coveted title next year.
Mitchell Starc holds the record as the most expensive player in IPL history. The Australian left-arm seamer was snapped up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping INR 24.75 crore during the mini-auction ahead of IPL 2024. Starc took some time to get into the rhythm after an eight-year break, but he proved his mettle by winning the Player of the Match award in Qualifier 1 and the final.
In the meantime, cricket-players/virat-kohli/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Virat Kohli is the most expensive Indian player to have played in the IPL. He was hired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for an impressive amount of INR 21 Crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The former India captain spent 17 seasons with RCB and wants to help his team to an elusive maiden IPL title next year.
When it comes to the most expensive Indian purchase in the IPL auction, legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh tops the charts as he was signed by Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) for INR 16 crore in the 2015 IPL auction. However, the southpaw failed to live up to his potential as he scored just 248 runs in 14 games at an average of 19.07. Yuvraj was released before the following season.
