They bring a lot of their resources as well as expertise

All six SA20 franchises are owned by IPL teams namely Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, Pretoria Capitals and two-time champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since its inception, SA20 has been a huge success in terms of attendance, revenue and fan experience and, most importantly, the quality of cricket has improved significantly. Thanks to this, South Africa also reached the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Speaking of which, former cricketer Paul Adams highlighted the importance of the resources and expertise each IPL team brings to SA20. He emphasized that each city was given an identity and the atmosphere during the tournament was great. He also spoke about the increase in viewership and added the quality of the professionals working in the tournament.

“As we have IPL teams as owners, they bring a lot of their resources and expertise. This can be clearly seen in the way they encourage fan engagement and create their own identity in each city. And it was absolutely amazing how quickly people really adapted to their hometowns and just created this whole atmosphere. You can clearly see that in the number of spectators and the quality of professionals who have come through,” Adams said while responding to CricTracker’s query.

The 47-year-old also shared his experiences with SA20. The Cape Town native mentioned that the players were great and also highlighted the atmosphere and excitement surrounding the tournament. He also believes the tournament brings a lot of positivity to South African cricket.

“It was really great. I think the energy around the tournament and also the quality of the players was absolutely great. When you're on the grounds, when you're around when the tournament is going on, you can feel that there's a lot of excitement there. I think it will bring a lot of positivity to cricket in general in South Africa,” Adams said.
