Shavkat Rakhmonov accuses Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman of making ‘empty callouts,’ Covington responds

And seem to agree whether they realize it or not.

With changing due to the welterweight world champion Since he was recently forced to withdraw from his fight against Rakhmonov on December 7th, several names have signed up for a potential fight against the undefeated Kazakhstanian. In an interview with Submission RadioCovington speculated that he would do well in a potential fight with Rakhmonov, the former welterweight titleholder said this on his podcast to compete against Rakhmonov, even though they previously trained in the same gym.

Rakhmonov responded to the comments on social media and challenged his rivals to put the matter on paper.

“All I hear are empty words,” Rakhmonov wrote. “No real intention, no action. Just a pose for media and fans.”

It didn't take long for Covington to reach out and respond, asking Rakhmonov's manager Daniel Rubenstein to translate a message for him.

“Someone just showed me Rubenstein's tweet for that big dumbass 'Shitrat,'” Covington said, implying that Rakhmonov had not written a tweet of his own. “Listen, Junior, translate that into whatever caveman dialect you need and get it through that big empty skull hanging off that Gumby ass body. I don't behave or bluff. As soon as I leave this beautiful five-star Trump golf course… I'm calling Hunter and Dana and we can all see who's heading out, idiots.”

It is not yet known whether Rakhmonov will end up fighting at UFC 310 or whether his clash with Muhammad – who is out due to a toe infection – will be postponed to a later date. If Covington gets the nod and an interim title is on the line, it would be Covington's fifth UFC title fight.

Covington defeated for an interim welterweight belt in 2018, but lost two title fights to Kamaru Usman and then one to at his last appearance last December.
