The 2024 season is in its final triplet and, with it, what could be the last three races of Franco Colapinto at the Grand Cirque for the moment. The Argentine did not expect to reach motorsport’s highest category during the current campaign, but circumstances have allowed him to take charge of a Williams with which he impressed everyone.
However, next year he will have to give it to Carlos Sainzwho signed a contract with the Grove team even before the change to Logan Sargeant. In the preview of Las Vegas Grand Prixthe young pilot assured that he was aware of the situation, and declared that he would like to be able to continue in 2025.
“This could be my last three races,” he said. “I would love to be there next year, the truth is that it’s kind of the goal that we have as a team, with my managers, who are doing the work for me to continue racing. I’m focused over these last three races, I want to take advantage of them, these are three important weekends for me.
“I want to take advantage of this opportunity, because it could be my last three races, so you always have to grab them with both arms and try to enjoy the moment,” continued the Argentine. “It will be important to finish in the best possible way with the team, to finish the year well, it will be very special for everyone. I really want to enjoy and continue learning.”
Despite this, Franco Colapinto wants to take it step by stepproving that he has the potential to stay in the category: “So far I haven’t thought much about my future, I’m trying to concentrate race by race, session by session, and I’m just trying to to do my best, without focusing on what I want to achieve or what. “I don’t have any expectations, I’m just trying to do the basics well, and then we’ll see where we end up.”
We insisted on its future, but The 21-year-old driver seems to have received offers from other championships to continue on the track.. However, he prefers to do the work on the asphalt and let the rest depend on those who manage it: “At the moment I don’t know anything about my future, it depends more on my bosses. James [Vowles] “He is also very involved in what I can do. My aim and goal is to continue in Formula 1.”
“And I only came for a few races, to try to show that I’m here to stay. So that’s our goal,” he continued. “Williams has two drivers, so it’s not a possibility, but I’m still very, very grateful to the team. We still have three races left, and in Abu Dhabi, you know, there’s always a chance, so we’re going to fight.” hard together to finish the year up there.
And how much has been questioned on running in other modalities which are not necessarily the Grand Circus because the lineups are almost decided, he said: “I think so [he recibido ofertas]my bosses took care of it. “If I don’t get a place in I would like to continue racing, I guess they are trying to see every possible opportunity.”
“I want to continue to compete and be active, I still want to be part of the paddock, I think that’s very important,” he said. “I like to run and, if not here because there is no chance for 2025, I hope to be 26 or 27. I hope I prove that I deserve to sit here , but if I can’t race, instead of watching TV for 24 races, I’d love to drive a car.”
