Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has made some interesting comments about his former team since joining the Houston Texans last offseason.
Mixon's latest post once again walked the line between appreciating his time with the Bengals and criticizing elements surrounding the team, from local media to coaches.
In conversation with Ahead of Week 12, Mixon has addressed everything from past on-field abuse and more.
“I appreciate my time there. I had a damn good seven years,” Mixon said. “Ultimately it was an unfortunate situation where things changed a little bit and obviously they had fake writers and reporters out there. I don’t care, I’m not here anymore… When it comes down to it, my teammates know what it’s about.”
Mixon continued: “One thing I appreciate here [in Houston] Are they using my skills? I've always been a threat in the passing game and here's one thing: They give me my screens. They give me choice, they give me flat routes to take. They give me all possible combinations. They’re using me.”
Mixon had a fantastic season with the Texans, gaining 786 yards and scoring 10 times while averaging 4.6 per carry. He was also attacked from the air 34 times.
Still, Mixon was the Bengals' undisputed workhorse, as he soared through the air 257 times on 64 targets last year alone. He had at least 210 carries and 48 targets in each of his final three seasons in Cincinnati.
It shows how the Bengals felt about Mixon, sending him with another AFC contender for a strong match with his skill set, when they decided to change things up.
While the 2024 Bengals are obviously far from perfect, they've enjoyed seeing Chase Brown fit better with the offense they're running thanks to his 607 yards and five scores for a 4.3 average, as well as his 35 catches Want to play second year and get two points through the air.
