Everything indicates that the Cowboys will be looking for a new head coach this winter Armed with draft picks, available financial resources and a desire for change, Dallas will be an attractive place for a head coach looking to make an immediate impact.
Bobby Slowik, the Texans' prized offensive coordinator, will likely leave Houston this winter. The Shanahan-like player's stock has risen to meteoric levels over the past season and a half and he is now one of the hottest names on the head coaching market in 2025.
Slowik is a game designer who creates deception through the use of a series of similar-looking personnel groups and lineups. He's a run-truther, but he backs that up by designing run-friendly plays and using run-friendly creases. He took a young Houston offense and built it to sky-high levels with an inexperienced quarterback.
Play actions, movement at the snap and various post-snap options help his offenses succeed. His offenses are allowed to produce greater results as a complete unit than the individual parts would otherwise deliver.
It's these qualities that make Slowik such an attractive option for Cowboys fans. Eager to turn over another disappointing chapter in Cowboys history, many fans see Slowik as a real step in the right direction. Not only is he an offensive expert who knows all the tips and tricks that drive defenses crazy, but he also has a fair amount of experience as a defensive coach.
Unlike most head coaches, Slowik is a coach who adds significant value with his system on one side of the ball and also has professional experience on the other side of the ball. As if that wasn't enough, Slowik worked at Pro Football Focus for three years and understood analytics in a way that very few NFL coaches have. Slowik is the complete package and the Cowboys may be able to sign him this winter.
If you want to take a look at the hot head coach candidate, you have to stop by on Monday. In Week 11, the Cowboys take on the Texans and get a great first-hand look at someone who could be the Cowboys' next head coach. Dallas hasn't had such a privilege since Week 6 against the Lions and Ben Johnson. If Slowik can show half as much as Johnson, fans are in for a real treat, so to speak.
