The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly signing former New England Patriots starting wide receiver Tyquan Thornton to their practice squad, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Thornton was released by the Patriots on Saturday after struggling to stay on the field for three seasons. The former Baylor star is considered a second-round draft choice with just 39 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns in just over two years with the team.
His incredible speed at receiver was probably the main attribute that drew the Chiefs' interest. They love using explosive playmakers on offense who can catch passes and make plays up the field.
However, Thornton was anything but a YAC king for the Patriots.

A new beginning for the former second-round pick, who was waived on Saturday.

Maybe things will be different for Thornton in Kansas City.
What better situation could he ask for than catching passes from three-time Super Bowl champion Patriots quarterback Mahomes and Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who is arguably the greatest play-caller in NFL history?
